In the refrigerant circuit, refrigerant circulates through an evaporator, compressor, condenser, and expansion device. The refrigerant cycle absorbs the heat, rejects it to the surrounding air, and supplies refrigerant at below-ambient temperature for cooling.
Air-cooled chillers force air across the refrigerant lines to discharge the heat.
Water-cooled chillers pump warm condenser water to a cooling tower, where heat is discharged.
