The OpenLOOP HC (Hot-Cold Well) Series Pump Station is a packaged, open-loop water system featuring a dual-chambered, stainless steel tank. The tank’s hot well and cold well allow separate process loops to use the same water or coolant. A dedicated tower pump on the hot well ensures good circulation through the tower, and thus consistent temperature control.

Operation
Process pumps run continuously, sending cool water from the tank’s cold well to the facility. The return hot water enters the tank’s hot well. From there, it is pumped to the cooling tower and flows to the cold well for recirculation. The cooling tower pump and fan turn on and off as needed to maintain the temperature of the plant supply water in the cold well. Internal ports between the two wells equalize the level in the tank.
Optional backup pumps turn on automatically upon loss of pressure from the primary pump. Emergency backup pump(s) turn on upon loss of power, so cooling water continues to circulate to sensitive equipment without interruption.
Maintenance
Dry Coolers recommends monitoring water quality and cleaning strainers or filters as needed. With proper water treatment, the system will protect process equipment from corrosion, scale, and debris, eliminating downtime due to water quality issues.
